Objective

Our aim was to develop a filter that efficiently removes spore-forming bacteria and is also likely to be acceptable for use by people who inject drugs (i.e. quick, simple and not spoil the hit).

Findings/Key points

A filtration device was developed which removes bacteria and particulates, is potentially easy for PWIDs to use and does not collect active ingredients, thus does not reduce the ‘high’. A future version needs to be streamlined, as the prototype is too bulky and its manufacture would be expensive.
