L’objectif

We conducted three independent studies on the expanded take-home dose (THD) exemptions to assess implementation and impact on patients and providers in three geographically diverse opioid treatment program (OTP) settings.

Constatations/points à retenir

Across all three studies, we observed how expanded access to THDs affected patient access to care. Furthermore, our notes and observations underscore the influence of structural factors in implementing exemptions across various treatment settings, geographical location, and patient populations. As we continue to face an ongoing public health crisis with both COVID-19 and increasing rates of drug overdose deaths, there is a need to maintain exemptions for THDs.
