Objective

This study examined the influence of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on Black sexual minority women’s mental health and substance use disorders in adulthood.

Findings/Key points

Black sexual minority women with ACEs are at higher risk for mental health concerns throughout their lifespan and maladaptive coping strategies (e.g., substance use).

Design/methods

Secondary data analysis was conducted using N = 149 Black sexual minority women’s reports from the Generations Study.
